The animals above have been identified and registered on the GMPBasic® livestock management system. This information may also be relayed to the State Veterinarian's office in the near future. This may assist to facilitate with automated movement permits and electronic movement permits too. It in addition may also assist with safe - guarding all in the industry in the future especially with respect to Bio-security issues.

Farmers or other prospective buyers can now insist on knowing the live-mass of the animals before the auction occurs. Animals can now be weighed "in" so that potential buyers know what the real mass of an animal is that they will be bidding on. This information can now be updated to a GMP software package at the auction or viewed via a webbrowser on a cell phone by an authorised user.

For verification purposes all microchips have to be administered and overseen by a registered South African Veterinarian. The details of the veterinarian are recorded in the Treatment / Procedure menu of the GMPBasic® system against each animal. This can also be done in a 'batch' of animals, each with its own unique number.

False numbers will be flagged and identified and users entering incorrect data / tags will be notified of such errors.

Microchip linkage to the animal's profile

This GMP ID Tag may also improve stock theft control at auction yards as each animal has its absolutely unique ID Tag identification.

The microchip may be placed subcutaneously anywhere on the animals body. Within the animal's profile the owner has the option to keep record of where the microchip has been placed.

These microchips are registered on the ICAR system to the manufacturer's manufacturing code. This microchip is also stored in the database against the animal's profile and may be viewed by relevant authorities. This is in order to assist with combating stock theft.
